Gender Fair Announces Its Inaugural List of “Gender Fair” Companies

Unleashing $7 trillion of women’s purchasing power for equality

NEW YORK CITY​, April 12, 2018 — Do your dollars promote equality or erode it? There’s a way to find out. Coinciding with Gender Fair’s formal partnership with TEDGlobal 2018 in Vancouver, Gender Fair, the world’s first and only marketplace solution for equality, announced today its list of Gender Fair​ companies for consumers. Gender Fair uses independent research to rank companies based on their fairness practices regarding leadership, employee policies, philanthropy, and leadership.

Gender Fair ranks these companies on criteria using metrics derived from the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles. The rankings serve to guide consumers who wish to support companies that value equality and are accessible in the Gender Fair iOS app.

“This list is the first of its kind because it focuses on educating consumers and giving them the knowledge and power to shop and support companies that value them,” said Johanna Zeilstra, CEO of Gender Fair. “The Fair Trade movement has produced social, environmental, and economic benefits, and Gender Fair will have an equally important impact.”

The Gender Fair mobile app, which is available in iOS, includes data on the top companies, along with those that missed the mark, organized by sector: 21 different sectors are now published on the app, with additional industries forthcoming.
